Fleet Acquisition and Fit-Out Fund

Help NASC Grow Its Fleet

Elijah and Nickhail on an RS Venture Connect in Antigua!

As NASC’s sailing program continues to grow, so does the demand on our boats.

Our sailors are training more often, taking part in more clinics and regattas, and representing St. Kitts and Nevis across the Caribbean and beyond. At the same time, more young people, adults and families are looking for opportunities to get on the water.

That growth is exciting. It also means we need more boats that are safe, suitable and ready for regular use.

Thanks to a fantastic opportunity presented by the St. Barts Yacht Club, NASC has a rare chance to acquire several gently used boats at a reduced cost, with delivery to Nevis also provided. The opportunity includes:

  • One RS Venture with launching dolly

  • Three Laser hulls

  • One Optimist hull

Our initial goal is to raise US$5,000 to help secure the boats and begin preparing them for use at NASC.

Any additional funds raised will go directly toward fitting out the boats, preparing them for safe use, and supporting the equipment needed to keep our sailing program growing.

Why This Matters

The need is real and immediate.

NASC now has at least six active sailors looking to train and race in the Laser, an Olympic class boat, but only two of our current Laser hulls are less than 30 years old.

Adding newer Laser hulls will help us support regular training, racing and sailor development.

The RS Venture will also be a valuable addition to the fleet. It is a stable and versatile boat that can support beginner lessons, family sailing, group instruction and more inclusive sailing opportunities.

The Optimist hull will support youth sailing and help younger sailors build confidence as they develop their skills.

What “Fit-Out” Means

The Laser boats in this opportunity are hulls only.

That means NASC will still need to source the equipment needed to make them usable on the water. This includes items such as masts, booms, rudders, daggerboards, rigging, lines and fittings.

Where possible, we may be able to reuse fittings and equipment from older boats that are being retired. This will help reduce the total cost.

However, donations to the Fleet Acquisition and Fit-Out Fund will help us complete the fleet properly without drawing from our regular annual boat maintenance funds.

In other words, your support helps turn this opportunity into usable boats for lessons, training, racing and community programs.

Naming and Sponsorship Opportunities

In keeping with NASC’s tradition of recognizing major gifts, naming opportunities are available.

US$3,000 - RS Venture Sponsor

Names the RS Venture and supports its acquisition and preparation for use.

This boat will help NASC expand opportunities for beginner lessons, family sailing, group instruction and more inclusive sailing.

US$2,000 - Laser Launch Sponsor

Names a Laser hull and helps fund the equipment needed to put it into service.

This level of support helps turn a Laser hull into a usable training and racing boat.

US$1,000 - Laser Hull Sponsor

Names a Laser hull and supports the expansion of NASC’s training and racing fleet.

This is an important contribution toward growing capacity for our sailors.

US$500 - Optimist Sponsor

Names the Optimist hull and supports youth sailing.

This helps younger sailors gain confidence and develop their skills on the water.

Donations of Any Amount

Every donation is appreciated.

Smaller gifts help with the many practical items needed to get boats ready and keep them working, including lines, fittings, repairs and safety-related equipment.

US$250 helps fund core equipment such as blocks, sheets, tiller extensions and control lines

US$100 supports commissioning and safety readiness

US$50 helps with lines, fittings and small parts

Whether you are able to make a major gift, sponsor a boat, or contribute a smaller amount, your support helps NASC put more people on the water.
